OK COMPOST HOME Certification and Green Packaging

Environmental sustainability is a constant priority for Cartiera del Chiese. In line with this commitment, the company has developed a comprehensive range of eco-friendly products intended for food contact applications. Several of these products have achieved OK COMPOST HOME certification, which designates packaging that is fully biodegradable through domestic composting.

This means that certain paper products produced by Cartiera del Chiese for food packaging can be disposed of as compostable organic waste in your own garden’s domestic composting system—operating at significantly lower temperatures than industrial composting facilities. In other words, packaging bearing the OK COMPOST HOME logo can be discarded along with regular organic waste such as fruit and vegetable scraps, garden waste, teabags, and coffee filters, and processed in both industrial and home composters.

The term “HOME” distinguishes these packaging products from those marked with the OK compost INDUSTRIAL logo, which are intended solely for composting in industrial facilities operating at temperatures between 55 and 60 °C.

Achieving certified sustainability in packaging is one of today’s major challenges for our industry, as composting can significantly reduce the quantity and volume of organic waste while also providing the economic benefit of producing compost for agricultural and home gardening use.

Cartiera del Chiese has embraced this challenge, opening up new opportunities in a rapidly growing market and reaffirming its commitment to protecting both the environment and the community.
