Cartiera del Chiese and Its Commitment to Its Territory

Cartiera del Chiese has always been deeply attuned to the needs of the territory in which it operates, feeling an integral part of the local community. Its four production sites, located between Montichiari and Calcinato, overlook the Chiese River—a resource of inestimable value that not only enhances the beauty of the landscape but also provides essential irrigation for agriculture and vital process water for industry.

The Chiese River rises in the Adamello mountain range, specifically on the slopes of Monte Fumo in the Trentino region, and travels 160 km before joining the Oglio River from the left, downstream of Acquanegra sul Chiese.

Over the years, the Montichiari site of Cartiera del Chiese has developed and optimized a three-stage effluent water treatment plant that includes a biological treatment process. In the treatment tanks, naturally occurring microorganisms significantly reduce the levels of contaminants, lowering them well below legal limits and ensuring that the treated water can be safely returned to the Chiese River.

This complex water treatment process also ensures that any type of scrap pulp can be used safely—a crucial factor for a company like Cartiera del Chiese, which produces all its products entirely from 100% recycled paper.

Additionally, the quality of the discharged water is monitored daily by a team of specifically trained in-house personnel, supported by top-tier external laboratories.

This rigorous approach reflects Cartiera del Chiese’s belief that excellence in industrial production must go hand in hand with the safeguarding of the surrounding territory.
