Cartiera del Chiese Strengthens Its Commitment to Renewable Energy

As an energy-intensive company, Cartiera del Chiese SpA is making significant strides toward energy self-sufficiency through sustainable initiatives. A key milestone in this transition has been the installation of photovoltaic systems at the Montichiari 2 and Calcinato 2 sites, generating a combined 4,790 gigajoules of renewable energy annually.

At Montichiari 2, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 821 kWp produced approximately 900 MWh in 2024, leading to a 40% reduction in electricity purchased from the grid compared to 2023. Similarly, the Calcinato 2 site, equipped with a 431 kWp system, generated around 430 MWh, reducing grid electricity consumption by 18% year over year.

Further strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure, the company has also completed the installation of a 420 kWp solar panel system at the Calcinato 1 site, which became operational in February 2025. Looking ahead, Cartiera del Chiese plans to install a 930 kWp photovoltaic system at Montichiari 1, expected to be operational by early summer 2025.

While full energy self-sufficiency remains a long-term goal, Cartiera del Chiese continues to take decisive steps in that direction. These investments in clean energy reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability, reducing its environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency.
